The Play’s The Thing

Recipe for a Purim Treat:

1 part ANNIE: THE MUSICAL, 1 part the Story of Purim, 1 part Neve Satire, add less than a week of rehearsing plus my otherwise unused extreme organization skills. Stir until funny. Serves 120 Orthodox Jewish Women, who will rave that it was the best Purim Shpiel that Neve has seen in the past 3 years. Not bad for someone who’s been out of the Theater Kitchen for almost 15 years.

Of course, it wasn’t the same without Mom, Dad and E there to offer hugs and flowers, but the offers to write shtick for 2 more shows this year and to contact a religious theater troupe were a nice (albeit strange) consolation. Who knows, I could become the next... er... um... yeah.

Well perhaps I’ll become the first.
